Learning from SunHorizon to decarbonise the residential sector
MiniStor accompanied SunHorizon project during its final conference in September 27th, the culmination point of five years of research. A Horizon2020-funded initiative as well, it aimed to demonstrate TRL 7 innovative heat pump and solar panel solutions for efficient heating and cooling of buildings, resulting in reduced CO2 emissions and enhanced energy independence. The event, held in the Marriott Hotel in Brussels, was a opportunity non only to share results and the exploitation strategy, but to shed a light on the future of the energy sector.
In that regard, SunHorizon was already identified by MiniStor, back in 2022, as a relevant initiative towards standardisation. Both projects also shared the BUILD UP webinar of January 2023, exploring new synergies on novel energy solutions for buildings. Moreover, they share CARTIF as a member of the two consortia, plus several partners involved with the ECTP.
The final conference included lessons learnt from demo sites from Spain to Letonia, monitoring or solar applications, among other insights and innovations. The presence of MiniStor will support the impact of SunHorizon in the decarbonisation of the residential sector, from policy to social awareness, for the project is now facing its final stages via unit manufacturing, installation and testing.
